Nicer | 1.3 | A single replacement for unix nice and renice which selects maximum "niceness" for batch jobs. This allows users with a single command to submit batch jobs on any platform. There is no need to set up a queueing system, no learning the often 'intricate' details of a vendors scheduling system, and the variety of built-in and vendor nice/renice syntax. Jobs get submitted (like nice) or rescheduled (like renice) with the same command "nicer" without the need for any flags or job length deadlines. This keeps the user interface constant while getting the highest performance for concurrent interactive and batch jobs for each architecture. The nicer homepage has details on how to use it as part of a batch queue-less system. | download the latest version of nicer |
GHelp | 1.0 | By typing help, users will find themselves in a simple unix help utility which lists the most important commands. When given arguments, it will run them though man -k and then the man command. It has a simple sanity checking pager support with simple instructions. The content can of course be locally configured. | download the latest version of ghelp |
